Springfield-Based Attorneys Educate About Foreclosures

Springfield, MA - The Springfield-based, regional law firm of Bacon Wilson, P.C. is pleased to announce that attorneys, Francis R. Mirkin and Justin H. Dion spoke at a Massachusetts Bar Association program about foreclosures on Tuesday, March 31. This program educated other local attorneys about the foreclosure process and how to mitigate financial losses for homeowners. The seminar was held in Springfield and was also simulcast in Worcester, reaching attorneys throughout Western and Central Massachusetts.

  • Application of Chapter 206 of the Acts of 2007
  • The 90-day right to re-instate
  • Massachusetts Division of Banks' Foreclosure Database System
  • Accounting of foreclosure proceeds
  • Loss mitigation; and
  • The Fremont case

Attorney Francis R. Mirkin's areas of practice include commercial and residential real estate and general business matters, as well as consistent involvement in commercial loan documentation, representing numerous area financial lending institutions and businesses. In addition, he handles zoning and subdivision issues. as well as commercial and banking law. Mirkin is a member of the MA Real Estate Bar Association and the Hampden County Real Estate Bar Association, a former president of the board of directors of the Western MA Division, American Heart Association and a current co-chair of the Baystate Children's Hospital Golf Tournament. He is also an annual volunteer for Rays of Hope. He has been awarded the distinction of New England SuperLawyer from 2004 - 2008. Mirkin earned his JD from Suffolk University Law School and his BA from the University of Massachusetts. He lives in Longmeadow.

Attorney Justin H. Dion specializes insolvency, business and financial matters. In addition to handling Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcies, he also does financial planning, conducts foreclosures, and handles collection matters for lenders, as well as practicing non-profit and real estate law. He was also awarded SuperLawyers Rising Star distinction in 2006 - 2008, and he is on the board of directors of Square One, and the Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation, as well as a regular participant in the Mass Bar Association Western New England School of Law Dial-A-Lawyer program. Attorney Dion teaches extensive law classes at Bay Path College and Western New England College School of Law, and is the author of several bankruptcy articles and has been published in the prestigious American Bankruptcy Institute and Western New England College Law Review. He earned his J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from Western New England College, his Master of Arts in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University, and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a specialization in research, Cum Laude, from Southern Connecticut State University. He lives in Longmeadow.
