Regional Law Firm Merges with Amherst Firm and Expands to 36 Attorneys

Springfield, MA – The Springfield based law firm of Bacon & Wilson, P.C. is proud to announce their merge with Monsein & MacConnell in Amherst. Bacon & Wilson wanted to expand its reach across the river in Hampshire County, and Monsein and MacConnell’s well established real estate and litigation practice is complimentary to Bacon & Wilson’s ideals and goals.

Stephen B. Monsein is an member of the domestic relations and litigation departments. His work is primarily concentrated on divorce cases, but he also handles personal injury cases and does a significant amount OUI defense work each year. He is a Fellow with the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy and Matrimonial Lawyers and has been active in Pelham Town Government and University of Massachusetts activities for many years. Monsein earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts. He lives in Amherst with his wife.

Peter W. MacConnell is a member of the real estate department handling both residential and commercial transactions. He also spends a considerable amount of time on zoning and land use issues, almost exclusively on the developer side. In addition, he also does estate planning and corporate legal work. MacConnell earned his J.D. from Suffolk University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Vermont. He lives in Amherst with his wife.

In addition, Bacon & Wilson recently hired Stacey D.C. Brock. She will split her time between the Amherst and Springfield offices. Brock is a member of the litigation department with a strong background in education law and both criminal and civil litigation. She is a former staff attorney in the Special Education Division of the New York City Department of Education, where she focused primarily on IDEA and Section 504 compliance. She has also represented parents of children with special needs in their attempts to seek appropriate services from their school districts. Brock is an Amherst Town meeting member and a member of the Board of Directors of Berkshire Art and Technology Charter School. She earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and her B.A. from Williams College. She lives in Amherst.

Bacon & Wilson, P.C. has a total of 36 lawyers plus 65 paralegals, secretaries and other support staff. The firm’s main office is located in Springfield, with additional offices in Westfield, Northampton and Amherst.
