Regional Law Firm’s Attorney Named to American Cancer Society’s Nationwide Gift Planning Advisory Council

Springfield, MA – The Springfield-based regional law firm of Bacon Wilson, P.C. is pleased to announce that partner, Hyman G. Darling has been selected to serve as a volunteer member of the American Cancer Society’s new Nationwide Gift Planning Advisory Council, which commenced during the third quarter of 2009. This council will be an active source of expert planned giving and estate planning consultation, will assist in the development of promotional strategies, and will serve as a resource for the society’s marketplace introduction to potential donors.
Darling will serve a two-year advisory council term, providing guidance in estate planning law, tax, investment and wealth management, real estate, insurance, personal financial planning, and marketing – all to help increase the quality and quantity of planned gifts to the society and to further its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
Attorney Darling is chairman of the Estate Planning and Elder Law Departments, and he is recognized as the area’s preeminent estate planner. His areas of expertise include all areas of estate planning, probate and elder law. Darling is past president of the Hampden County Estate Planning Council and also a Certified Elder Law Attorney. In addition, he is a past president of the Hampden County Bar Association, he teaches law at Bay Path College, and is an adjunct professor at Western New England College School of Law – LLM program, teaching Elder Law. He is on the board of many charitable entities including the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and he serves as chair of the Baystate Health Systems Professional Advisors Committee. Darling is a frequent lecturer on various estate planning and elder law topics at both the local and national levels. He earned his JD from Western New England College School of Law and his AB from Boston University, and he lives in Longmeadow.
