Law Clerk Program
Bacon Wilson, P.C. offers a Law Clerk program for highly motivated second and third-year law students who are seeking an opportunity to gain experience working directly on cases, receive mentorship from attorneys (both Shareholders and Associates alike), and be exposed to a variety of practice areas while strengthening their legal research and writing skills.
What you can expect from our program:
Mentorship
Our Law Clerks work with, observe, and learn from over thirty-five seasoned attorneys with collectively over 400 years of experience, practicing across various areas of law including commercial transactions, real estate, estate planning and probate, family law, land use and permitting, and civil litigation.
Networking Opportunities
Each Law Clerk will enjoy direct access to practitioners at different stages of their career, from first-year associates to senior shareholders. Law Clerks further develop relationships with their fellow clerks while navigating working in a law firm setting, while also establishing connections with paralegals, administrative staff, and the legal community at large. Law Clerks are welcome and encouraged to attend firm events and outings.
Legal Research, Writing and Analysis
Each Law Clerk’s primary responsibility is assisting attorneys with a variety of assignments ranging from drafting various documents, memorandums, and motions, to researching and reviewing case law to provide a basis for legal arguments. Law Clerks will seek and receive constructive feedback as to their work product, particularly as to its connection with the real-world practice it is supporting.
Exposure
Our program is structured with the intent that Law Clerks will be exposed to all areas of practice throughout the firm, including court and client events that arise in the day to day practice in those fields. Each Law Clerk gains different, valuable real-world experience beyond what is taught in a law school classroom in their time at Bacon Wilson. These experiences and skills stay with Law Clerks beyond the end of the clerkship, further supporting them in their future careers.
